Default Noob Detection bug and feature request

Hi Tatakai! First off let me say thank you for having such a wonderful utility. One thing that I've noticed while running on our server is that with Noob Detection enabled we run into a problem where we have a TDM No Respawn situation. What happens is that once a player is killed and is simply spectating while the rest of the teams are battling, the dead player ends up receiving Noob points. I'm sure this is due to the fact that the player is dead and unable to earn any points, but it erroneously causes players Noob score to increase, even though they have no way of trying to combat. Of course this raises a lot of questions from players on the server as to why they are awarded a noob point when they aren't even playing. Is there something I can do to resolve this, short of simply turning off Noob Detection?

One thing that would be nice is if the ServerScan window were size adjustable as well. I realize that the player section where it lists players on the server can be scrolled, but I was just wondering if there were a way to have the whole window expand (Maximize) so that it can occupy the whole screen or at least the width that someone desires?

Hello Spawn,

Thanks for the compliments.

I can see how not allowing players to spawn would cause a problem for the noob detection. Unfortunately unless there is a way to detect dead players I'm not sure what I can do. Would it be possible for me to connect to your server to see if I can detect this. I won't need to make any changes but I do need a server where is this option is set and has players on it. PM me the details if you are happy for me use your server to try and find a solution to this prob.

Re the resizing of the window. To give the ability to maximise or resize to whatever size you wish would take a fair bit of programming. I don't really have the time to look at that right now. You can make the player display larger already, see options for that check box.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks

Andy

Andiehuk, I don't think it will be a problem. I'll check with the server admin to make sure though. We're not always busy, but we tend to have more players on in the evenings (we're located in Canada, so that may make it a little trickier for you).
I'll get back to you in a bit with details on the server if the admin ok's it.

Hi Andiehuk,
I spoke with our server admin, and he suggested setting up a time with you to make sure that we have a bunch of people on the server for you to determine how to resolve the issue. When would be a good time for you? With it being summer, it proves to be a little more difficult seeing the server occupied as much as it normally is during winter time, as most people are out enjoying the weather.
Anyway, please let me know, and I also was supposed to find out what you needed for access? Is it simply just the server IP and the rcon login password?

Hello Spawn,

That sounds like a plan. Where abouts are you guys based? Time difference maybe a factor of course. I will only need the rconpassword, ip and port. Whatever you do don't post it here, PM the details. Also out of interest what cvar do you set to stop spawning in TDM?

Cheers

Andy

We are based in North America, with members ranging from one end to the other, as well as a few over in Europe. We normally try and have everyone on the server at around 8pm EST on average, although not every night. I'll send you the server details once we work out a time and date that works for everyone (including yourself). As for the cvar, I'm not sure specifically, but we just set the player respawn to 0 so that there is no respawn situation in TDM.

Hello,
I'm BST at the mo and can only do 8pm until 11pm (not Thursday) or 10am to 11pm at the weekends. If you can tell me the cvar for setting player respawn to 0 it would be appeciated. Let me know when you want to do this then.

Andiehuk,
Here are the cvars that are set for our situation:
set scr_war_numlives 1
set scr_war_playerrespawndelay 0
set scr_war_waverespawndelay 0
We are thinking that if we can setup a time with you next week, that would be best. Are there any particular dates or times that you would prefer?

Hi there... Can you do me a favor. Please turn on logging then capture the following when people are playing.

1) player status, please highlight dead players that can't respawn.
2) on a dead player please do a player dump

Email me the rconconsole.log file. Email in PM.

Ta
